09/26/2013 – McHugh Mixup

Rob DeVelice will lead "McHugh Mixup" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 pm in the lower parking lot (outside the gate) at McHugh Creek on the Seward Highway. We will proceed on trails up McHugh Creek, then scramble and bushwack up slopes and ridges towards McHugh Saddle (but not all the way to the saddle), and end by looping back to the start. About 65 percent of the route will be off trail.

08/01/2103 – Tweety Bird

Rob DeVelice will lead "Tweety Bird" with a duration of 1.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 pm at the Bird Creek trailhead at the end of Konikson Road in Bird. We will head out the Penguin Creek Trail on the approach to Nest and Bird peaks for about an hour and return. Be prepared for the presence of brown and black bears.

06/13/2013 – Botany Challenge 49

Rob DeVelice will lead "Botany Challenge 49" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 pm at the Falls Creek trailhead on the Seward Highway. This will be a hike (not a run). Me will seek and identiff 49 species of plant and note the phenological state of each (germinating, vegetative, flowering, fi:uiting, senescent). The Falls Creek area is

immensely beautiful and includes verdant forests, species rich
shrublands, and a lively stream.

05/16/2013 – Outta Sight

Rob DeVelice will lead "Outta Sight" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 pm in the McHugh parking lot (outside the gate) on the
Seward Highway. We will begin on the Turnagain Arm and McHugh Lake trails but will soon proceed to the rocky ridge below McHugh Saddle via bushwack and scramble. A goal will be to minimize encounters with snow in a roughly loop route.

05/09/2013 – Flight of the Raven

Rob DeVelice will lead "Flight of the Raven" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 pm in the Bird Ridge parking area on the Seward
Highway or, if you want to car pool, at the weigh station just after
Potter Marsh at 6:15 pm. We will immediately head up slope through
the forest, brush, grass, rocks, and snow to a high point from which
we jump over the Bird Ridge Trail and dive down towards Bird
Creek. This will be an energetic loop involving minimal use of
maintained trails.

03/21/2013 – Beachcombing

Rob DeVelice will lead "Beachcombing" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in West Anchorage.

Meet at 6:30 pm  in  the parking area  at Point Woronzof off Northern Lights Boulevard.  V/e will proceed immediately down onto the frozen beaches of Cook Inlet. As envisioned, the route will be a rambling out and back among blocks of pan ice and snow covered mudflats.
