04/30/2026 – Upper Highway

Lee Helzer will lead "Upper Highway" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet for a 6:30 departure at the Rainbow trailhead.  We will take the Upper Highway trail as an out and back or bushwhack back to the Turnagain trail for the return.

04/09/2026 – Rays on Rainbow

Lee Helzer will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading towards the Black Mesa. From there we will asses snow conditions and either continue up the North Face or the south west ridge of Rainbow Peak (hopefully) enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way.  Ice axe and micro spikes recommended.

From the summit we will take the standard route back to the Turnagain Arm Trail and return to the cars. There are out and back opportunities for those not desiring partaking in the full enchilada.

02/26/2026 – How Low Will it Go?

Jesse Gobeli will lead "How Low Will it Go?" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in East Anchorage.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the North Bivouac trailhead off of Campbell Airstrip Road. We will take a circuitous route through various swamps, Campbell airstrip, botanical gardens, lost cabin and gasline searching for low temperatures.

01/01/2026 – Nearpoint Figure

Heather Helzer will lead "Nearpoint Figure " with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Note earlier start time.

Meet at the Prospect Heights Trailhead for a 3:00pm departure.  We will attempt to construct a figure 8 route that includes Near Point and minimizes bushwhacking.

11/06/2025 – How far does it go?

Lee Helzer will lead "How far does it go?" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet for a 6:30 departure at the Indian Valley Trailhead at the end of Boretide Road.

We will head up the Powerline Trail until around 1,800ft where we will leave the beaten path and follow trails built by fairies in search of a mythical new trail which we will ideally return by.

10/16/2025 – Rusty

E. Marquez will lead "Rusty" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect heights trailhead. We will take the Wolverine trail to the big cairn. From there, we will set off across the valley and ascend to the low pass on the ridge. We will turn west and take the ridge to Rusty point, before descending to the Middle Fork trail for the return.

10/02/2025 – Sheep Thrills

Lee Helzer will lead "Sheep Thrills" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at Windy Corner trailhead at 6:15.  We will carpool to Falls Creek trailhead where we will head up the “new” trail to Sheep Thrills ridge brushing out any over growth.  We will return via Lilly’s trail.

09/25/2025 – Potter Hill Climb

E. Marquez will lead "Potter Hill Climb" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the McHugh Creek trailhead (lower parking lot). We will take the Turnagain Arm trail to mile 2, then head uphill to the Potter Overlook. We will descend by a varied route.

07/10/2025 – McHugh’s Broad Shoulder

Iulian Ovod-Everett will lead "McHugh's Broad Shoulder" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

We will meet at 6:30 at the canyon road parking lot. We will descend to the creek, cross it, and ascend the gentle ridge to the East summit of McHugh. We will continue along the ridge to the low point, then descend and return via the rabbit lake trail.

05/01/2025 – Near Point

E. Marquez will lead "Near Point" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Hillside trailhead off Abbott Road. We will take the gasline trail to Prospect Heights, and then proceed to Near Point and return.

04/17/2025 – Potter Overlook

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Potter Overlook" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Weight Station just south of Potter Marsh. We will take the Turnagain Arm trail for about a mile before jumping off to ultimately ascend Potter Overlook. We will make our way back down by a direct route to the main trail for the return.
