10/10/2024 – Penguin Valley Exploration

Lee Helzer will lead "Penguin Valley Exploration" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at the Bird Valley trailhead at the end of Konikson road for a 6:30 departure.  We will follow the Penguin Creek trail to its end.  We will continue exploration up valley via heavy bushwhacking for as far as time allows then return beaten up and battered by Mother Nature for attempting something so foolish.

09/26/2024 – Rainbow Shoulder

E. Marquez will lead "Rainbow Shoulder" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Rainbow trailhead. We will take the main trail to the high point below the Rainbow summit, then traverse across the shoulder of the mountain towards the neighborhood below. We will return by an alternate trail.

09/12/2024 – Ship Lake Pass

Josh A. will lead "Ship Lake Pass" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead. We will take the trail towards Hidden Lake and to Ship Lake Pass. We will pass behind the Wedge on sheep trails, drop back down towards Powerline Pass trail and return.

08/29/2024 – Indianhouse Ridge

E. Marquez will lead "Indianhouse Ridge" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Falls Creek trailhead. We will take the main trail to the top of the valley, then ascend the pass to the southwest of Indianhouse, then descend to the old Johnson trail and back to the trailhead.

07/18/2024 – False Peak

Lee Helzer will lead "False Peak" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at Glen Alps trailhead for a 6:30 departure.  We will head out the Powerline trail then take the Hidden Lake Trail.  Once we reach the rock garden atop the knoll where we traditionally head toward the river we will instead B-Line it to the summit of False Peak.  From the summit we will return to the Powerline trail via the gully just west of False Peak.

Note: I will be 15 to 20 minutes late.  Please start without me and I will do my best to catch up.

05/30/2024 – Ladders and Chutes Two

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Ladders and Chutes Two" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the McHugh Creek trailhead. We will take the main trail into the Valley, before charging up ridge at an advantageous location. We will follow the ridge to McHugh Peak, in search of glissadeable snowfields 2000 feet back to the valley trail below.

05/16/2024 – Wolverine Traverse Redux

E. Marquez will lead "Wolverine Traverse Redux" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

This will be a redux of the 4/11/2024 attempt that was aborted due to extreme wind conditions.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead. We will take the main trail to Wolverine and the cairn. From there, we will head directly across valley to the low saddle between Wolverine and Rusty Point. After crossing over, we will drop down to the middle fork of Campbell Creek and return via various trails.

04/11/2024 – Wolverine Traverse

E. Marquez will lead "Wolverine Traverse" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead. we will take the main trail to Wolverine and the cairn. From there, we will head directly across valley to the low saddle between Wolverine and Rusty Point. After crossing over, we will drop down to the the middle fork of Campbell creek, taking trails back to the trailhead. Snowshoes will very likely be necessary. e

04/04/2024 – Rays on Rainbow

Lee Helzer will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading towards the Black Mesa. From there we will asses snow conditions and either continue up the North Face or the south west ridge of Rainbow Peak (hopefully) enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way.  Ice axe and micro spikes recommended.

From the summit we will take the standard route back to the Turnagain Arm Trail and return to the cars. There are out and back opportunities for those not desiring partaking in the full enchilada.
