Jesse Gobeli will lead "Unnamed" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Rainbow trailhead.   We will ascend the unnamed trail through birch and hemlock forests and alder thickets to a high spot on the ridge.    The return route will be selected by participants.

04/29/2021 – Snow Thrills

Lee Helzer will lead "Snow Thrills" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at Windy Corner for a 6:30 departure.  We will take the Turnagain trail for a short bit then bushwhack or posthole our way up Goat Head Couloir.  We will either return via the west ridge or the way we came.

04/22/2021 – Rays on Rainbow

Lee Helzer will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading towards the Black Mesa. From there we will asses snow conditions and either continue up the North Face or the south west ridge of Rainbow Peak (hopefully) enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way.  Ice axe and micro spikes recommended.

From the summit we will take the standard route back to the Turnagain Arm Trail and return to the cars. There are out and back opportunities for those not desiring partaking in the full enchilada.

03/25/2021 – Ferns in the Snow

Rob DeVelice will lead "Ferns in the Snow" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Rendezvous at 6:30 pm in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area. We will proceed upslope to visit a population of licorice fern (Polypodium glycyrrhiza) at the northern limit of the species. For cool information on licorice fern go to:

03/04/2021 – Sweat Lodge

E. Marquez will lead "Sweat Lodge " with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Falls Creek trailhead.  We will follow the old Johnson trail for a ways, then head uphill towards Indianhouse until we intersect with the standard trail.  We will descend back to the Johnson trail for a figure 9 route.

02/04/2021 – Falls Creek exploration

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Falls Creek exploration" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Falls Creek trailhead on the Seward Highway.  We will head up the main trail to explore the valley as far as conditions permit.  Microspikes and snowshoes may be required.

09/10/2020 – Penguin Peak

Anne Ver Hoef will lead "Penguin Peak" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30pm at trailhead:  turn left off Seward Hwy on Konikson Rd (past Bird Creek trailhead and campground) and go to the end of the dirt road to large parking lot.  This is an out-and-back of 6.3 miles and elevation gain of over 4000 ft.  Be prepared for a climb!  May bring a headlamp, just in case.

08/06/2020 – Sheep Thrill Plus

E. Marquez will lead "Sheep Thrill Plus" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at the Falls Creek trail head for a 6:30 departure.  We will follow Sheep Thrills ridge up then continue the ridge back toward South Suicide.  At the most opportune time we will sneak down to the main trail and return.
