11/12/2020 – You Are Not Forgotten

Lee Helzer will lead "You Are Not Forgotten" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Eklutna.

Meet at 6:15pm in the parking area at the start of Eklutna Lake road. Due to limited space we will carpool to a 4 car gravel pullout at about mile 4.5 on Eklutna Lake Road by electric pole 74. We will then hike up the road to electric pole 85 where we will depart the road and head up to Gold Star Peak then head over to Mount POW/MIA, pay homage, and return. Micro-spikes recommended. Please allow extra time for traffic delays.

10/15/2020 – O’Malley Ridge

E. Marquez will lead "O'Malley Ridge " with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead.  We will take the trail to ascend Nintendo Hill, cross the ballfield, then ascend the gulley that tops out on the ridgeline to O’Malley Peak.   To return, we will drop down on the other side towards Hidden Lake, and return to the trailhead.

09/10/2020 – Penguin Peak

Anne Ver Hoef will lead "Penguin Peak" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30pm at trailhead:  turn left off Seward Hwy on Konikson Rd (past Bird Creek trailhead and campground) and go to the end of the dirt road to large parking lot.  This is an out-and-back of 6.3 miles and elevation gain of over 4000 ft.  Be prepared for a climb!  May bring a headlamp, just in case.

09/03/2020 – Harp Mountain

E. Marquez will lead "Harp Mountain" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Eagle River - South.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the South Fork Eagle River Trailhead.   We will take the main trail to the Hanging Valley, then ascend Harp Mountain and return.

05/21/2020 – Bird Flew

Lee Helzer will lead "Bird Flew" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Update

The Highway will be closed from 10pm to 5am in Indian.  We will keep the pace up to ensure we are back at the car by 9:30pm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Bird Ridge trailhead (the rock quarry mega-lot).  We will follow Bird Creek to the falls, then we will select a suitable ascent route to the top of Bird Ridge.  We will return by the standard route.

05/07/2020 – Rays on Rainbow

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Telephone Pole Rock parking area just south of Beluga Point on the Seward Highway.  We will follow trails until we ascend the north face of Rainbow Peak.  We will return by the standard route.

03/26/2020 – Knee Deep

E. Marquez will lead "Knee Deep" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 at the small trailhead at the end of Basher Road.  We will head up the trail to Near Point.  Then we will plunge down into No Man’s Land and bushwhack over to the main Wolverine trail.  Then we will take the Lost Cabin trail back to the Basher trailhead.  From there we will run back to the start.

03/05/2020 – Rough on the Edges

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Rough on the Edges" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at Prospect Heights trailhead.  We will take the trail towards Wolverine, then plunge into the valley and directly to the Middle Fork trail.

02/27/2020 – Hillside Trails Ramble

Lee Helzer will lead "Hillside Trails Ramble" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at the Upper Huffman Trailhead (at the end of Sultana Rd.) for a 6:30 departure.  We’ll ramble around the Hillside trails and try to find our way to the proposed Campbell Gorge Trail to link up to the Middle Fork trail then return via a combination of the Powerline and Gasline trails.

02/20/2020 – Dance of the Troglodytes

E. Marquez will lead "Dance of the Troglodytes" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in West Anchorage.

Meet at 6:30 pm at the Prospect Heights Trailhead on the Anchorage Hillside. We will head  up to the granite erratic on the Wolverine Peak Trail. From there we will take the “No Mans Land” route towards Near Point to the ridge where we will proceed towards Wolverine Peak. We will descend on the main trail without going to the Wolverine Peak summit.
