Lee Helzer will lead "Chasing Sunsets" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.
Meet at the South Side Flattop trailhead for a 6:30 departure. We will head up the southside direct trail to Flattop and then follow the ridge back as far as Ptarmigan Pass and return via Rabbit Lake trail.
Epic photo opportunities will hopefully present themselves.
Lee Helzer will lead "The Hidden Williwaw Ramp Cirque" with a duration of 4.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.
Note the earlier time to try for an optimal sunset.
Meet at the Glen Alps parking lot for a 6:00pm departure. We will head up Nintendo Hill and cross the Ballfield to access the Williwaw Lakes Trail. After a short time on the trail we will break off and explore a small body of water in the picturesque Hidden Williwaw Ramp Cirque. We will return via the same path or a slightly longer alternative with less elevation.
This will be a re-attempt of the 6/24/2021 Epic that was thwarted by a moose kill on the trail.
Josh A. will lead "Ship Lake Pass" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead. We will take the trail towards Hidden Lake and to Ship Lake Pass. We will pass behind the Wedge on sheep trails, drop back down towards Powerline Pass trail and return.
E. Marquez will lead "Rusty Point" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead. We will head up the standard Wolverine trail to the 1st ridge, then turn off and head to Rusty Point. We will return via the same route.
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Round About" with a duration of 5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the McHugh Creek trailhead, lower parking lot. We will ascend fire revegetated slopes to just below Black Mesa, then traverse below Rainbow to the Hole-in-the-Wall area before descending to cross the creek and return via the main trail.
UPDATE: Due to construction at the lower parking lot, we will park at the gravel parking lot just to the south of McHugh Creek
Lee Helzer will lead "Service Work" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at the Rainbow Trailhead for a 6:30 departure. We will follow an intermittent trail (No Disco) up valley toward South Yuyanq’ Ch’ex to an undetermined point then return via the same route.
Josh A. will lead "Double Bypass" with a duration of 4.5 hours somewwhere in Eagle River - North.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Ptarmigan trailhead in Chugiak. We will follow the main trail up the valley, ascend Blacktail Rocks and then Roundtop to complete a loop back to the main trail.
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Adelie" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. on the small pullout on the north side of the Seward Highway at mile 96 across from Bird Point. This is the one near the small crag. From here, we will take the bike path for a short distance and then head directly up, seeking to attain the ridge near Adelie point. The caliber of bushwhacking is unknown.
E. Marquez will lead "Powerline Peak" with a duration of 4.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Rabbit lakes trailhead. We will run to the lake, then circumventing the lake head north to the pass and Powerline Peak, then back along the Powerline trail. We will jump back over the pass near Peak 2 to get back to the trailhead.
Lee Helzer will lead "The Abomination" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Eagle River - South.
Meet at the South Fork Eagle River trailhead for a 6:30 departure. We will take the Abomination trail to Hunter Pass then follow the ridge to Rendezvous Peak. We will return by the new Muktuk Marston Trail taking the occasional detour to investigate spent rocket boosters.
Josh A. will lead "Eagle River Overlook" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Eagle River - South.
Meet at the South Fork Eagle River trailhead for a 6:30 departure. We’ll head up the hanging valley and ascend the Eagle River Overlook highpoint(s).
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Lost Connections" with a duration of 4.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Rainbow trailhead. We will head up the upper highway route to Tortilla Chip rock, traverse the ridge to the saddle beneath South Suicide, and take the forest trail back to the trailhead. The route will survey last season’s trailwork on both trails.
