Meet at 6:30 pm in the pull off on the right (water) side of the Seward Highway
just after milepost 110. We will proceed past the “Northwest Passage” rock
climbing ateaupslope via bushwack and scramble in an entertaining loop.
Gardening gloves, safety glasses, and penetration resistant clothing suggested.
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Unnamed II" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Rainbow trailhead on the Seward Highway. We will
head straight up the ridge to a suitable turnaround point. There will be some
bushwhacking and route finding. This is a repeat of the Spring route.
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Potter Hill Climb" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the weigh station parking area just south of Potter Marsh. We
will take the TurnagainArm Trail south for a short distance before proceeding uphill
to the ridge. We will proceed towards McHugh and descend to the Turnagain Arm
Trail for the retum.
Rob DeVelice will lead "Sheep Thrills" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Falls Creek Trailhead on the Seward Highway. We will proceed
via bushwack and scramble to Sheep Thrills Ridge. Depending on snow abundance
weather, and participant desires this will either be an out and back or a loop.
E. Marquez will lead "Indianhouse Ridge" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Falls Creek Trailhead on the Seward Highway. We
will head out on the trail towards Indian, and about a half mile out, will head
uphill to the top of the ridge. We will stay onthe ridge for awhile, then come
down towards southeast face and back to start.
Jesse Gobeli will lead "Unnamed" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Rainbow Trailhead on the Seward Highway. We will take the Turnagain Arm Trail south for a short distance, before proceeding uphill along the unnamed ridge. We will reach a suitable turnaround point and return by the same route.
Rob DeVelice will lead "Free Bird" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the “original” (small) Bird Ridge trailhead. We
will proceed straight up from the trailhead via bushwack and scramble. Once we reach the ridge we will hop the trail and dive downslope towards Bird Creek. We will finish on obscure paths and a little bit of the official Bird Ridge Trail.
E. Marquez will lead "Sweat Lodge" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Falls Creek trailhead on the Seward Highway.
We will go a short distance on the Falls Creek trail, turn east on the
old TurnagainArm trail, and eventually bushwhack north and climb
towards the ridge. We will find a point to turn around and return by
the same route.
Rob DeVelice will lead "Caballo Blanco" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm in the McHugh parking area on the Seward Highway. We will
head a ways up McHugh Creek valley on the new trail then proceed upslope off
trail via snow and scramble to the ridge (west of “McHugh Pass”) overlooking
Potter Creek valley. We will finish up by looping back down to the Turnagain
Arm Trail.
Rob DeVelice will lead "Rainbow Warriors" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm in the pullout on the right (sea side) of the Seward Highway nearest to milepost 109. That’s the pullout immediately across the road from the spring fed water pipe and near the “Sky Pilot” rock climbing area. V/e will bushwack, scramble, and snow climb steeply up and down the slopes and ridges of Rainbow Peak.
Bring an ice ax and traction devices (such as micro spikes).
E. Marquez will lead "Ides of March" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Falls Creek Trailhead. We will go out on the main
trail for 1.5 hours, see how far we get and turn around. Trails may be icy.
