01/11/2018 – No Man’s Land

Jesse Gobeli will lead "No Man's Land" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead.  We will take the main trail towards Wolverine before jumping off into No Man’s Land.  From there we will head to Wolverine Peak and return.

01/04/2018 – Peak 3

E. Marquez will lead "Peak 3" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:15 at the intersection of Upper DeArmoun and Canyon roads.  We will carpool to the Rabbit Lake trailhead for a 6:30 start.  We will climb to the top of Flattop, then follow the ridge to Peak 3 and return.  Microspikes and ice axe may be necessary.

12/14/2017 – A Different Rusty

E. Marquez will lead "A Different Rusty" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead.   We will take the main trail, but at the creek before the Wolverine trail we will break off and bushwhack straight to Rusty Point.  After we ascend Rusty, we will return by the main trail.

11/30/2017 – Hidden Lake

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Hidden Lake" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead.  We will take the main trail, ascend to Hidden Lake, explore the lake ice formations and return by a similar route.

11/02/2017 – Williwaw

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Williwaw" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at Glen Alps at 6:30 p.m. We will proceed up the middle fork trail to Williwaw lakes.  We will then climb a ridge to reach the ballfield and return via Nintendo hill.

10/26/2017 – The Long Road to Recovery

Lee Helzer will lead "The Long Road to Recovery" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

At 6:30 we will depart from Upper O’Malley trailhead by Shebanof Ave. and Stroganof Dr.

This will be my first Epic back and longest hike to date after my knee injury.  The first half of the Epic will be a slow and cautious walk up the Gasline trail linking to the Powerline trail via the Hemlock Knob trail.  Once we reach the Glen Alps cut off, I will depart as my knee currently only allows for uphill travel.

Those remaining will step up the pace and jog the Middle Fork trail to a weather/participant dependent creek crossing and exciting bushwhack back to the Rim trail.  A series of trails will link runners back to the Upper O’Malley trailhead.

10/05/2017 – A Different Wolverine

Jesse Gobeli will lead "A Different Wolverine" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead.   We will head to the Middle Fork trail, then bushwhack to the ridge leading to Rusty Point.  We will follow the ridge to Wolverine, then drop down to the middle fork valley again and return.

09/21/2017 – Hasta la Vista

E. Marquez will lead "Hasta la Vista" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Baldy at the top of Skyline Drive in Eagle River.  We will proceed to the saddle between Roundtop and Blacktail Rocks. Then we will proceed to Vista Peak and return.

08/17/2017 – The Wedge Loop

E. Marquez will lead "The Wedge Loop" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead.  We will take the main trail to the pass between The Ramp and The Wedge, we will follow sheep trails along the back of The Wedge until we can descend to the powerline trail and return.

 

 

08/10/2017 – Rabbit High Route

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Rabbit High Route" with a duration of 4.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Upper DeArmoun and Canyon roads.  We will carpool to the Rabbit Lakes Trailhead for a 6:30 start.  We will take the main trail to the lake and then ascend the north ridge, scramble along the ridge until we can descend to Powerline Pass, and then follow the trail over Ptarmigan Pass back to the start.
