04/23/2026 – No Man’s Land

E. Marquez will lead "No Man's Land" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Dome trailhead adjacent to the military fence at the end of Basher Rd. We will take the trail up the back side of Near Point. From there, we will traverse along the ridge before descending into No Man’s Land. We will make our way back to the Wolverine trail, and ultimately run Basher road back to the start.

04/16/2026 – Black Mesa Loop

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Black Mesa Loop" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading to Black Mesa. We will ascend Black Mesa, then loop around the North side, and descend via a different route to the main trail.

04/09/2026 – Rays on Rainbow

Lee Helzer will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading towards the Black Mesa. From there we will asses snow conditions and either continue up the North Face or the south west ridge of Rainbow Peak (hopefully) enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way.  Ice axe and micro spikes recommended.

From the summit we will take the standard route back to the Turnagain Arm Trail and return to the cars. There are out and back opportunities for those not desiring partaking in the full enchilada.

04/02/2026 – Chupacabra Pass

E. Marquez will lead "Chupacabra Pass" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead. We will take the main trail to the creek, then begin our ascent in search of the legendary Chupacabra at Ship Lake (aka Chupacabra) Pass. We will return by the same route. Snowshoes are advised, although the prevalence of snow machine tracks should make travel faster.

03/19/2026 – McMurdo

Jesse Gobeli will lead "McMurdo " with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at the Glen Alps trailhead at 6:30 p.m. We will take the main trail to the bridge and then ascend to Hidden Lake. The return route will be along the east side of the creek, the Three Headlights route. Snowshoes recommended for the return route.

03/12/2026 – Rough on the Edges

E. Marquez will lead "Rough on the Edges" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead. We will take the Wolverine trail to the cairn, before diverting to the high plateau beneath Rusty Point and over the shoulder before descending to the Middle Fork trail and return. Snowshoes are recommended.

02/26/2026 – How Low Will it Go?

Jesse Gobeli will lead "How Low Will it Go?" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in East Anchorage.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the North Bivouac trailhead off of Campbell Airstrip Road. We will take a circuitous route through various swamps, Campbell airstrip, botanical gardens, lost cabin and gasline searching for low temperatures.

02/19/2026 – Off Point

E. Marquez will lead "Off Point" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet in the small parking area next to the military land at the end of Basher Dr. for a 6:30 departure. We will head up to Near Point, then down towards the Lost Cabin, then back along neighborhood trails and roads to the trailehead.

02/12/2026 – Middle Fork Exploration

Lee Helzer will lead "Middle Fork Exploration" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at the Prospect Heights trailhead for a 6:30 departure.  We will head out the Middle Fork and explore possible trails that may or may not cross Campbell creek.  We will likely return via the Powerline trail.  Snowshoes recommended.

 

02/05/2026 – Nintendo Hill

E. Marquez will lead "Nintendo Hill" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead. We will head up Nintendo Hill and then cross the ballfield to the high point, before descending directly to Middle Fork.
