11/19/2020 – Stockwell Fairwell

Lee Helzer will lead "Stockwell Fairwell" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at Glen Alps for for a 6:30 departure.  We’ll head up Nintendo Hill and make a brief visit to Little O’Malley before cross the Ballfield.  After the Ballfield we will plunge into the dense dwarf hemlocks and snow drifts.  After some most excellent snow turtling we’ll return via Williwaw Lakes and Middle Fork trails. 

There is an alternate return route for a full-value +1 hour finish to truly celebrate Brent’s last Epic before starting a new chapter in Wisconsin.

11/12/2020 – You Are Not Forgotten

Lee Helzer will lead "You Are Not Forgotten" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Eklutna.

Meet at 6:15pm in the parking area at the start of Eklutna Lake road. Due to limited space we will carpool to a 4 car gravel pullout at about mile 4.5 on Eklutna Lake Road by electric pole 74. We will then hike up the road to electric pole 85 where we will depart the road and head up to Gold Star Peak then head over to Mount POW/MIA, pay homage, and return. Micro-spikes recommended. Please allow extra time for traffic delays.

09/24/2020 – Rays on Rainbow

Lee Helzer will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading towards the Black Mesa. From there we will continue up the North Face of Rainbow Peak (hopefully) enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way.

From the summit we will take the standard route back to the Turnagain Arm Trail and return to the cars. There are out and back opportunities for those not desiring partaking in the full enchilada.

08/13/2020 – 907 Goat

Lee Helzer will lead "907 Goat" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 14815 Echo Canyon Rd. off of Canyon Rd. for a 6:30 departure.  Park by the basketball hoop past the driveway.  Please keep dogs on leash at the house due to cats on the loose.

We will take a quick jaunt down Eva’s trail, then sneak back up to Canyon Rd. on the secret trail.  From the trailhead we will head up Peak 3 and follow the ridge back to Ptarmigan pass, then drop down to the Powerline trail.  We will follow the Powerline trail  for a bit before we B-line to Canyon Rd. via the pass between Flattop and Peak 2.  Canyon Rd. will take us back to the start.  If we so choose we can record our names on the finisher clipboard.

06/11/2020 – Poppy’s Alaskan Half Marathon

Lee Helzer will lead "Poppy's Alaskan Half Marathon" with a duration of 5 hours somewwhere in Eagle River - South.

In honor of Rick Stutzman’s (aka Poppy’s) 70th birthday (June 18th); his upcoming partial knee replacement surgery (July 15th); and simply having a reason to come together as friends and family (virtually)…

You are invited…

Meet at the South Fork Eagle River trail head for a 6:30 departure to join us for an Alaska half marathon to celebrate a truly great man and long distance runner, whom we are lucky to call Dad, Poppy, Uncle, Brother, Neighbor, and Friend.

We will depart from the South Fork Eagle River trail head at 6:30 sharp and head up to 3965 then follow the ridge to 4710 and return via the Symphony Lakes and the South Fork trail.  The distance will be over 13.1 miles and probably less than 15 miles.

05/21/2020 – Bird Flew

Lee Helzer will lead "Bird Flew" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Update

The Highway will be closed from 10pm to 5am in Indian.  We will keep the pace up to ensure we are back at the car by 9:30pm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Bird Ridge trailhead (the rock quarry mega-lot).  We will follow Bird Creek to the falls, then we will select a suitable ascent route to the top of Bird Ridge.  We will return by the standard route.

02/27/2020 – Hillside Trails Ramble

Lee Helzer will lead "Hillside Trails Ramble" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at the Upper Huffman Trailhead (at the end of Sultana Rd.) for a 6:30 departure.  We’ll ramble around the Hillside trails and try to find our way to the proposed Campbell Gorge Trail to link up to the Middle Fork trail then return via a combination of the Powerline and Gasline trails.
