05/14/2015 – Bird on a Wire

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Bird on a Wire" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Bird Creek Trailhead at the end of Konikson Road.   This epic will involve a general exploration of the old mining roads and sights of the Bird Creek area.  Highlights will include a 1965 mustang fastback and the waterfalls of Bird Creek.   Route may include creek crossings and some bushwhacking.

05/07/2015 – Fill in the Blank

E. Marquez will lead "Fill in the Blank" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet in the McHugh parking area at 6:30 pm. We will start on the Turnagain Arm Trail towards Potter and will then proceed upslope via obscure routes and bushwhacks prior to returning.

04/30/2015 – Hole in the Wall

E. Marquez will lead "Hole in the Wall" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Rainbow trailhead.  We will head out the main trail before bushwhacking across the creek and traversing the side of the mountain to the Hole in the Wall notch on the ridge.  We will return by a different route.

04/23/2015 – The Young Dragon’s Tail

Lee Helzer will lead "The Young Dragon's Tail" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at the corner of Upper De Armoun and Canyon road at 6:15 p.m. We will carpool to the end of Canyon Road and the start of the Epic. We will run out Rabbit Creek Trail to Ptarmigan Pass and then ascend Flaketop Peak.  We will return via the ridge.  Microspikes are recommended.

04/09/2015 – Unnamed Traverse

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Unnamed Traverse" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at the Rainbow Trailhead at 6:30 p.m.   Our goal is to run to mile 8.75 of the Turnagain Arm trail, ascend to just below the boulder massif that forms the upper Unnamed Ridge, and traverse the length of the ridge before descending back to the starting point.  Some alder bushwhacking is on the agenda.

04/02/2015 – Return to Black Mesa

E. Marquez will lead "Return to Black Mesa" with a duration of 4 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the gravel parking area that is just past the McHugh Creek trailhead on the Seward Highway.  We will ascend to the Turnagain Arm trail, cross the trail, and bushwhack along the ridge heading towards Black Mesa.   We will find a place to descend and return via the main trail.

03/26/2015 – Rays on Rainbow

Lee Helzer will lead "Rays on Rainbow" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Correction!  The epic will be on Thursday (3/26), not Friday as previously posted.

Meet at 6:30 in the Telephone Pole Rock parking area (on the left after Beluga Point) on the Seward Highway. We will head up to the Turnagain Arm Trail and then diverge onto a ridge heading towards the Black Mesa. From there we will continue with ice ax and micro spikes up the North Face of Rainbow Peak (hopefully) enjoying a beautiful sunset along the way unlike last year’s fierce wind and snow.

From the summit we will take the standard route back to the Turnagain Arm Trail and return to the cars. There are out and back opportunities for those not desiring partaking in the full enchilada.

03/19/2015 – Beaches and Sunsets

Lee Helzer will lead "Beaches and Sunsets" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in West Anchorage.

Meet at the Little Campbell Lake parking lot in Kincaid Park at 6:30.  From the lake we’ll make our way to the coast and take the icy beach to the bluffs where we will (hopefully) marvel at the wonderful sunset.  We’ll exit the great sand dunes and take a series of trails back to the beach on the lake.  **Micro spikes Highly recommended** and expect wet feet if temps are above freezing.

03/12/2015 – Indianhouse Bowl

E. Marquez will lead "Indianhouse Bowl" with a duration of 2 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 at the Falls Creek Trailhead.   We will head up the trail for about an hour, explore the Indianhouse bowl, and return.   Microspikes are recommended.

03/05/2015 – A different Rainbow

Jesse Gobeli will lead "A different Rainbow" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at the Telephone Pole Rock pullout, just past Beluga Point on the Seward Highway at 6:30.  We will bushwhack to a location below Rainbow Peak, traverse across the mountainside, and return along the main trail.

02/26/2015 – Peak 1…2…3…

E. Marquez will lead "Peak 1...2...3..." with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at the corner of Upper De Armoun and Canyon road at 6:15 p.m.  We will carpool to the end of Canyon Road and the start of the Epic.  We will ascend Flattop peak, then traverse to Peak 2 and Peak 3 as time permits before descending to the trail and back to the start.   Microspikes are recommended.
