07/07/2022 – P.O.W. / M.I.A.

Jesse Gobeli will lead "P.O.W. / M.I.A." with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Eklutna.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Mile 5+/- pulloff at Eklutna Rd. This will be a summer revisiting of the classic Veteran’s Day epic route. We ascend the trail to the summit of P.O.W./M.I.A. and return.

06/02/2022 – Short Memory

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Short Memory" with a duration of 3.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:15 p.m. at the Indian trailhead at the end of Boretide Road (Note earlier time).  We will carpool to the Bird Ridge trailhead (small lot) for a 6:30 p.m. start.  We will proceed up the standard route to the high point. From there, we will glissade, posthole, and bushwack directly back to the Indian trailhead.

(N.B.:  This is a reverse attempt of the “Workshop of Horrors” route, abandoned and sworn off in 2019.  The memories of the original participants have softened, facilitating this current attempt, albeit with some lingering trepidation…)

05/12/2022 – Peak 2-3

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Peak 2-3" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Rabbit Creek trailhead.  We will proceed up Flattop then to Peak 2, and on to Peak 3 if time and conditions permit.   Ice axe and microspikes recommended.

04/14/2022 – Path of Destruction

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Path of Destruction" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Telephone Pole Rock parking area across from Beluga Point.   Our plan is to directly ascend the path of destruction, battling thorns and loose boulders along the way.  We will work our way through the cliffs until we reach the base of Black Mesa.  From there, we will attempt to ascend the southeast couloir, depending on snow conditions.  Ice axe and microspikes will likely be needed.   We will descend the west ramp of the mesa back to the start.

03/17/2022 – Falls Creek

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Falls Creek" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Falls Creek Trailhead on the Seward Highway.   We will take the main trail out as far as we can go.   Snowshoes are recommended.

02/24/2022 – No Man’s Land!

Jesse Gobeli will lead "No Man's Land!" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead.  We will proceed via the main trail up Wolverine, but we will diverge at the giant boulder and foray into the No Man’s Land between Wolverine and Near Point.   We will return over Near Point.  Snowshoes are advised.

02/03/2022 – Change of Direction

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Change of Direction" with a duration of 3 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Alps trailhead.  We will take the powerline trail out towards the bridge and hidden lake trail, and head up to the giant snow drift.  From there we will ascend higher towards Hidden Lake and return by a route chosen by participants.  Snowshoes are recommended.

12/23/2021 – Wrapping it Up

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Wrapping it Up" with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in Turnagain Arm.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Weigh Station just south of Potter Marsh.  We will jump onto the Turnagain Arm trail, follow the trail for a mile or so, then bushwhack uphill for a ways, then head downhill and back to the trail.

11/04/2021 – Rusty

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Rusty " with a duration of 2.5 hours somewwhere in The Chugach Front Range.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead.  We will take the main trail to middle fork trail until just below Rusty Point.  Then we will ascend to the prominent boulder, before traversing towards the bowl beneath Wolverine and an alternate return route.

09/09/2021 – 2680

Jesse Gobeli will lead "2680" with a duration of 4.5 hours somewwhere in Peters Creek.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Peter’s Creek trailhead (end of Malcolm Drive).  We will take the standard route up Bear Mountain, then descend the opposite ridge.  Our destination will be the aesthetic yet seldom climbed point 2680.   From there we will climb to Eklutna Peak and return to the trailhead.
