Meet for a 6:30 departure at the Campbell Creek Estuary parking lot which is off Selkirk Dr. and Edinburgh Dr.  We will take the coast to Jodhpur and ascend the Bluff.  We will turn around in the vicinity of the Costal Trail and return on the coast chasing the receding tide.  Expect muddy feet.

Meet at the Basher Trailhead for a 6:30 departure.  We will jog the road to the Near Point trail head and continue to the summit of Near Point.  We will descend to the saddle of No Man’s Land and return via the valley.

Meet in the lower lot of McHugh Trailhead for a 6:30 departure.  We will head up to Caballo Blanco and assess glissade descent options.  Micro spikes and ice axe required.

 

Post Report

This route is best later in the spring to allow for more light to ascend Caballo Blanco.  Snow levels are important for lengthy descents.

02/20/2025 – Hidden Lake Loop

Meet at 6:30 pm at the Glen Alps parking lot. We will follow the powerline pass trail up towards hidden lake, then detour to the west below False Peak, before descending back and returning via the powerline pass trail.

02/13/2025 – No Man’s Land

E. Marquez will lead "No Man's Land" with an estimated duration of 3 hours.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead. We will take the Wolverine trail to the high cairn. From there, we will ascend directly to the ridge, and follow the ridge back down to No Man’s Land.

02/06/2025 – Bird Creek 20K

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Bird Creek 20K" with an estimated duration of 4 hours.

The route is in and conditions are right for the Bird Creek 20K! Low snow and frozen temps make for a fast route this year. Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Bird Creek trailhead at the end of Konikson Rd. We will journey to the ford site and beyond to a suitable turnaround point on this out and back route.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the McHugh Creek trailhead. This will be an out and back, up to the bowl, ascending the scree field to the pass, and return.

Jesse Gobeli will lead "Stoners" with an estimated duration of 2.5 hours.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Upper Huffman trailhead. We will take a circuitous mix of obscure trails mixed with bushwhacking, possibly crossing the Middle Fork of Campbell Creek returning via a loop route.

01/09/2025 – Rough on the Edges

E. Marquez will lead "Rough on the Edges" with an estimated duration of 3 hours.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospect Heights trailhead. We will take the Wolverine trail to the cairn, before diverting to the high plateau beneath Wolverine and over the shoulder before descending to the Middle Fork trail.

This epic will be dedicated to the memory of Ron Nicholl, fellow Epic participant and quintessence of the Epic spirit, who passed away in 2024.

01/02/2025 – Eagle River Run

Lee Helzer will lead "Eagle River Run" with an estimated duration of 3 hours.

Meet for a 6:30 departure on the north side of Eagle River.  We will start from a small pullout at the intersection of Hidden Haven Dr. and Aleden Ln off VFW Rd.

We will head up river until open water prohibits progress and then return via Greenbelt trails.  We may take a side detour over to South Fork Falls depending on participant ambitions.
