"You know you got it if it makes you feel good..." ~Janice Joplin (from "Piece of My Heart")
Rob DeVelice will lead "Feeling Good" with an estimated duration of 2 hours.
Meet at 6:30 PM at the Falls Creek trailhead on the Seward Highway. The route will depend on the conditions of the day but will definitely include some steep ups and downs and a serving or two of bushwacking.
Post Report
The core Epic contingent of five men and two dogs set out in snow-free conditions at Falls Creek. We soon diverged onto a remnant of the Old Johnson Trail for a bit before initiating light bushwhacking upslope to Lone Tree Butte.
The next goal was to attain Sweat Lodge Ridge with minimal bushwhacking. Although it appears this goal is attainable, such was not the case on this particular evening. Instead much of the route from the butte to the ridge involved steep ascents and traverses through alder patches often accompanied by a generous presence of devils club.
Mercifully, we finally reached the open tundra of Sweat Lodge Ridge. After crossing a steep snow slope with caution, we arrived at the descent trail that looped us back spectacularly to the Old Johnson Trail and our ultimate return to the trailhead.
