02/13/2014 - Paths Less Travelled

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." ~Robert Frost (excerpt from "The Road Not Taken")

Rob DeVelice will lead "Paths Less Travelled" with an estimated duration of 2 hours.

Rendezvous at 6:30 pm in the parking area on the left immediately after mile post 111 of the Seward Highway. This will be an out and back featuring steep terrain, bushwacking, and scrambling with minimal presence of human made paths.

Post Report

Six dudes and two dogs braved thin snow on steep slopes on this spicy out and back. The route had been snow free for weeks but a new dusting arrived the day before and reduced traction on many sections. At the turn around high point the moon emerged from behind “Black Mesa” and added supplemental diffused lighting from behind thin clouds for the descent. It was a fine evening out!
